Teaching

Alexander Ishov’s teaching reflects the diversity of his performance practice. At the core of his pedagogical philosophy is providing a high-quality music education to students from a wide range of backgrounds, not simply those who are pursuing careers in orchestral classical music. Alexander’s teaching practice is fundamental to who he is as a performer.

In addition to providing students with the tools to succeed in a wide range of music practices, Alexander’s musically and demographically-diverse curriculum prepares students to engage with discussions about equity and representation in contemporary music.

In addition to maintaining a private flute studio in San Diego and Online, Alexander is an Associate Instructor of Music Theory and Musicianship at the University of California San Diego, and has taught Music History and Technology at the college-level.
